March 10, 2018 (San Diego) - T-No. 21 San Diego State snapped a five-game losing streak on Saturday morning with a 7-6 home victory over 20th-ranked Harvard at the Aztec Invitational. SDSU moves to 6-9 on the year and the Crimson fall to 7-5.

Harvard took an early 2-0 lead in the first quarter, but San Diego State outscored the Crimson, 3-1, in the final 2:05 to level the score at 3-3. The SDSU freshman duo of Lucia Carballo and Mary Myers provided the goal scoring with the former notching a pair of goals.

The Crimson, which scored with 18 seconds left in the first period struck first in the second frame to move the visitors out in front. Freshman Emily Bennett, however, scored twice in a matter of 16 seconds to help SDSU enjoy a 5-4 lead at halftime.

The score held for the first 3:04 of the third quarter, but Karli Canale broke the stalemate and Malia Magro followed suit with 2:23 left. San Diego State allowed a goal with two ticks left on the game clock as it carried a 7-5 lead into the final eight minutes.

Both teams were scoreless for more than three minutes into the fourth quarter until Harvard found the back of the net to help it get to within a goal of the Aztecs. The SDSU defense took it from there, preventing Harvard from getting any closer the rest of the way.

The SDSU freshman class accounted for six of the team’s seven goals. Malia Magro, a senior, scored the Aztecs’ other goal.
