March 9, 2018 (San Diego) - T-No. 21 San Diego State dropped its first-ever Golden Coast game on Friday, falling to 12th-ranked LMU, 5-2, at Aztec Aquaplex. The loss moved SDSU to 27-1 all-time in GCC action.

The contest between two of the original members of the Golden Coast was a defensive battle as the Lions led after one half, 1-0, with Daniela Hernandez recording the goal.

LMU extended its lead to 4-0 with the help of three goals in the third quarter, but Karli Canale supplied the Aztecs (5-9; 1-1 GCC) with a pair of 6-on-5 goals in the final 90 seconds of the period to slice the home team’s deficit in half.

The fourth quarter was another defensive clinic that benefitted the Lions. Offensively, LMU (11-10; 2-0 GCC) scored the only goal provide the game’s final margin.

NOTE

Karli Canale posted her third multiple-goal game of the season, which is the third-highest total on the team.
