GARGANTUAN WIND TURBINES TO DWARF CURRENT MODELS

 

February 1, 2013--The German company, Siemens, has built new turbines twice as big as its older models for offshore wind production – so big that a special ship had to be built to carry the giant blades. Even larger ones loom on the horizon. 

Several companies are designing 10- and even 15-megawatt machines with 100-meter blades.

ON THE SILVER SCREEN: BLOOD BAYOU (BULLET TO THE HEAD)

February 1, 2013 (San Diego) -- Bullet to the Head is the second film in three weeks - Arnold Schwarzenegger's The Last Stand being the other - to star one of my favorite action heroes from yesteryear.  The addition of long-absent action director Walter Hill (The Warriors, 48 Hrs.) ups the nostalgia factor.  Bullet to the Head recalls those 80s and 90s action crime films that Hill and Stallone are known for while keeping up with the 2010s.

CHP SEEKS WITNESSES TO CRASH THAT KILLED VW DRIVER IN SANTEE ON DEC 29

 

January 31, 2013 (Santee) – California Highway Patrol is looking for two people who reportedly stopped  to provide aid at the scene of a fatal collision on eastbound State Route 52 near Mast Boulevard on December 29, 2012.

According to witnesses, two males stopped to help the driver of a Chevy 2500 HD, and then left the scene before contacting officers.  The Chevy had collided with a tan Volkswagen beetle.  The driver of the Volkswagen sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
