June 13, 2024 (Rancho San Diego) – Seeds of change have been planted at the Water Conservation Garden. The Joint Powers Authority has taken over management and operations, while the nonprofit Friends of the Water Conservation declared bankruptcy after becoming mired in debt due to large loans.
Hope is blossoming among JPA members and a growing group of around 60 volunteers who have stepped up to fill key needs. Expenditures have been pruned and revenues are on the rise, though major funding is still needed for long term sustainability.

February 8, 2013 (San Diego) – Once again Museum Month is happening in San Diego County including five East County Museums. During the entire month of February individuals can pick up a free Museum Month Pass at any local Macy’s store and receive half-off admission to 42 San Diego County museums. Guests with passes may bring up to three people with them to any participating museum.

January 14, 2010 (Rancho San Diego)—The Water Conservation Garden, located at Cuyamaca Collegei in El Cajon, invites the public to enjoy its 2010 winter and spring events. Classes offered help residents save water and money by focusing on water smart landscaping techniques and plants. Classes are taught by experts and topics include lawn removal, water-smart landscape design, backyard composting, irrigation design and gardening for children.
