April 13, 2011 (San Diego) - Ten people were indicted by a federal grand jury on Friday, April 8,  for their part in a point-shaving and marijuana distributing operation. Three of the ten indicted included two former players and a former assistant coach from the University of San Diego basketball program.

January 2, 2010 (El Cajon)-- Cypress College defeated Mt. San Jacinto College to win the Grossmont College 23rd Annual Holiday Tournament for women's basketball held on the Grossmont campus in El Cajon December 28 - 30. The Grossmont Griffins finished in fourth place.
