March 25, 2019 (Sacramento) - When state legislators grilled University of California staff at a hearing Tuesday about the university’s response to the recent college admissions scandal, Assemblyman Kevin McCarty asked the question that’s been reverberating since the story broke last week.

POLICE SEEK SUSPECT IN FATAL HIT-AND-RUN

March 17, 2013 (San Diego) – A 50-year-old man was struck and killed while attempting to cross Interstate 15 north of the Landis Street overcrossing near University at 6:55 p.m Wednesday night. 

According to the CHP,  the victim was hit by a Mercedes traveling 50 to 60 mph in the number one lane.  The driver was not injured. The victim’s name has not yet been released, pending notification of  family.  The collision remains under investigation.

ASSEMBLY HIGHER EDUCATION CHAIR MARTY BLOCK CO-AUTHORS LEGISLATION TO MAKE COLLEGE MORE AFFORDABLE

 

February 10, 2012 (Sacramento)-- Assemblymember Marty Block (D-78th District),  Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, has joined Speaker John A. Pérez on legislation that will keep college fees down for middle class families. The Middle Class Scholarship, which was introduced by Speaker Pérez today, will close a tax loophole for out-of-state corporations in order to cut college fees for middle income families.

THREE FINALISTS NAMED FOR SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT

 May 4, 2001 (San Diego) --The California State University Board of Trustees today announced three finalists for the presidency of San Diego State University. The finalists and the dates they will visit the campus for all-day meetings with various groups are:

Elliot Hirshman, provost and senior vice president, University of Maryland, Baltimore County, will visit on Monday, May 2.

Steven Leath, vice president for research and sponsored programs, University of North Carolina system, will visit on Tuesday, May 3.


·        

Paul J. Zingg, president of California State University, Chico, will visit onThursday, May 5.
