August 7, 2019 (Tierrasanta) – A mother called 911 Monday to report she had fallen asleep and upon awakening, could not find her 2-year-old daughter.  The woman later called back and told the dispatcher she had found the toddler in her vehicle, not breathing. Medics arrived at the Tierrasanta residence in a military housing complex, but could not revive the girl, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Today, the mother’s cousin and the cousin’s boyfriend at the same residence  on  Leary Street overdosed on drugs and have been hospitalized, ECM news partner 10 News reports.

Officer Billy Hernandez, San Diego Police Department’s public affairs officer, says an investigation is continuing into the child’s death.

No arrests have been made, however the girl’s brother has been taken into protective care by Child Protective Services, according to 10 News and the mother has been taken to a psychiatric hospital after today’s medical emergencies.

The two overdose victims, both unconscious when found, are reportedly hospitalized with non-life threatening conditions.
