October 2, 2015 (LA MESA) - After a three-car collision Wednesday afternoon on the I-8 westbound, two drivers were hospitalized, one of them with severe injuries, KUSI reports.
According to the CHP, an eastbound Ford F-350 tore off part of the center divide by Severin Drive just after noon.
Parts of the wall tumbled into the westbound half of the freeway and smashed into an Infinity G37 coupe, injuring the driver, a 24-year-old El Cajon man.
The driver of the truck and the young man were both taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital. The truck driver’s condition was not released.
The freeway is now fully open, but two lanes on each side were closed for a lengthy period of time.
According to CHP public affairs officer Kevin Pearlstein, a witness saw the 64-year-old truck driver hunched over the steering wheel before the truck hit the wall.
