A TREASURED EVENT: HEARTLAND COIN SHOW MAY 6 IN SANTEE

April 13, 2023 (Santee) -- Enjoy a Saturday full of fun and the opportunity to learn about how to start your very own coin collection or have the chance to add new coins to your collection. There will be plenty of U.S. and foreign coins, antique coins, AND currency too.

Dealers will present to buy, sell, and appraise. You, your family, and your friends are invited to join the Heartland Coin Club for a Saturday full of fun and learning at their Coin Show on May 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Cunnane Social Center at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. 9310 Dalehurst Rd., Santee, CA. Click here for Driving Directions

Admission is $3.00 (free admission to Heartland Coin Club members, and members of any of the San Diego County Coin Clubs (with a club ID card.) Admission is also free for children under 16 when accompanied by an adult, as well as for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in uniform. In addition, the Heartland Coin Club is proud to support all veterans and active military personnel with free admission (please present military ID, or another form of military service credential).

ANACS, America’s Oldest Grading Service™, will be available to offer free advice on your coins and help you submit your coins for certification.

The price of admission includes:

  • Free admission to California State Numismatic Association (CSNA) Educational Presentations
  • Free Coffee
  • Raffle tickets will be available for purchase for $1.00 each, $5.00 for six tickets, and $10.00 for 15 tickets. Raffle prizes will be during the coin show.

The California State Numismatic Association, CSNA, is having its FREE Educational Symposium during the Heartland Coin Club Show. Featuring three guest speakers:

Stephen Russell: Scientists / Inventors on Currency

Steve will be presenting a lecture on the topic of collecting world currency that has the images of world-famous scientists and inventors, and their inventions, as their main theme. He has amassed a large number of images and notes related to the topic and made them an interesting focal point for collecting world currency.

Dick Dowis: Space Mission Coinage and NASA Memorabilia

Dick first amassed a number of pieces of NASA memorabilia during his youth and has continued his collection thru the commemorative coin issues of the US Mint, along with other sources. He will be talking about those pieces and will present most of his collection during his lecture and discussion.

James Phillips: The Great Train Chase and Collecting Western and Atlantic Railroad notes

The story of "The Great Train Chase" is a brief glimpse into one of the most exciting actions of the Civil War. This presentation will discuss the theft of the train "The General" and the epic chase by the Conductor and its sister engine "The Texas". It will also cover the aftermath of the chase and its participants. This will also be a discussion and display of a number of articles and souvenirs plus a complete set of currency notes issued by the Western and Atlantic Railroad, the owners of both "The General" and "The Texas”.

The first presentation will be at 11:00 to allow for early browsing on the bourse.
