WILDLAND FIRE EXERCISES MAY 10-12 AT BARONA RESERVATION, FLINN SPRINGS DURING MONTH OF MAY

May 10, 2012  (Barona) -- San Diego County’s Annual Wildland Fire Exercise will be held this Thursday, Friday and Saturday (May 10, 11, 12) on the Barona Reservation. There will be dozens of fire apparatus traveling on the highways of Lakeside on their way to Barona who is hosting the event this year.
 
 
 
Wildcat Canyon Road will be impacted with slow moving fire apparatus traffic all three days generally between the hours of 8:00am to 9:30am and from 3:00pm until dark.  Sirens will be sounded and some smoke will be generated from this exercise.  Fire Agency helicopters will be performing water drops in the area also.  This event is not open to the public.
 
Flinn Springs – The “Central Zone” Fire agencies will be hosting afternoon Wildland Firefighting Safety Training sessions during the month of May at Flinn Springs County Park. About 10-12 fire vehicles per day (30 to 50 firefighters) are participating in these drills on an irregular schedule. Fire Agency helicopters may also make one or more water drops during the exercise. This annual training is mandatory for all firefighters prior to the wildland firefighting season. This event is not open to the public.

Eucalyptus Hills - June 1, 2012 at 10:00am is the date and time set for the Lakeside  Fire Protection District to auction off two surplus fire trucks and the old Fire Station Number 2 on Valle Vista Road in Eucalyptus Hills.
