October 3, 2011 (San Diego) Update 4:50 p.m.  -- I-5 reopened moments ago after being closed from I-805 to Del Mar Heights Road, with traffic diverted onto Highway 56 for investigation into a series of shootings earlier today.

SANTEE KIDNAPPING VICTIM & DEPUTY WHO SAVED HER TO SPEAK AT CRIME PREVENTION FORUM OCT. 4.

 

 

October 1, 2011 (San Diego) -- She was choked, savagely beaten, bound and held captive in the trunk of her car without food or water for 26 hours. On that December night in 2008, then 75yearold Sandy Vinge asked God to save her or let her die. Help for Sandy came through Sheriff’s Deputy Marc Snelling who pulled over Jeffrey Nelson for running a stop light in unincorporated El Cajon. She is alive today because of that traffic stop. Nelson is serving life in prison. Nelson’s partner in crime, Luis Osborne is serving 10 years in prison.

LA MESA MAN ARRESTED IN VIOLENT DOMESTIC ASSAULT

September 30, 2011 (La Mesa)-- Daniel Guzman, 51, of La Mesa has been arrested following a 2:13 a.m. response by La Mesa Police Department to a call of a domestic violence assault in the 5000 block of Thorne Drive. The female victim met officers outside.

36 ARRESTED IN FEDERAL DRUG CONSPIRACY INVESTIGATION OF HELLS ANGELS

September 29, 2011 (San Diego) Updated 10 p.m. -- Keith Slotter, Special Agent in Charge of the San Diego FBI office today announced arrest of 36 people with ties to the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club. Six defendants were already in custody and four are considered fugitives at this time.

BURGLARY SUSPECTS BUSTED IN LA MESA

September 29, 2011 (La Mesa)—La Mesa Police have arrested Damu Lucas, 20, and Victoria Gonzalez, 19. The pair has been charged with three residential burglaries that occurred on Thorne Drive and Saranac Place the morning of September 27.

POLICE SEEK MAN WHO KIDNAPPED WOMAN IN GREY PRIUS


September 27, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – San Diego Police seek a gunman who forced his way into a woman’s 2009 Toyota Prius (license 6CID140) last night and terrorized his victim for several hours. The victim, kidnapped at 700 University Ave. in Hillcrest at 9 p.m., was driven to El Cajon and forced to handover money from an ATM machine, ECM news partner 10 News reports.

33 ARRESTED IN EAST COUNTY WARRANT SWEEP

September 25, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – A warrant sweep conducted by Sheriff’s deputies yesterday has led to the arrest of 33 fugitives. The 7-hour operation, conducted by the Sheriff’s Court Services Department Field Unit and San Diego Fugitive Task Force, included the cities of El Cajon, La Mesa and Santee as well as unincorporated portions of the County in Alpine, El Cajon and Lakeside.

TEEN GIRL ASSAULTED AND ROBBED AT LA MESA BUS STOP


September 23, 2011 (La Mesa) – A 16-year-old girl was punched repeatedly in the face and robbed of her cell phone by two women Tuesday afternoon. The attack occurred at a bus stop in the 8100 block of Allison--the same block where La Mesa's Police station is located.

SEARCH ON FOR SUSPECTS WHO ROBBED WENDY’S IN SPRING VALLEY


September 20, 2011 (Spring Valley) 8:25 p.m. -- San Diego Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter, a K-9 unit from National City Police and a total of seven law enforcement units are currently searching for suspects believed to have robbed a Wendy’s hamburger outlet in the Casa de Oro area of Spring Valley.

 

The suspects were last seen running east down Campo Road, according to a Sheriff’s media spokesman, who declined to release descriptions of the suspects.

September 11, 2011 (Lemon Grove)—Chula Vista Police have issued a bulletin asking the public to be on the lookout for Francisco Ramirez, 34. The Lemon Grove resident is suspected of abducting his son, 11, and two daughters, one 9 years old, the other 1 year 9 months. He may have taken them to Mexico in a silver GMC Yukon sport utility vehicle.

August 26, 2011 (Fallbrook) – A thousand pounds of avocados will make a lot of guacamole. That’s how many avocados Barron Stein, 43, is charged with stealing at a value of $1,500.

August 26, 2011 (Jacumba) – An “international traveler” who crossed the U.S.-Mexican border was shot by a property owner in Jacumba around 5:27 p.m. yesterday. The shooting occurred in the 42000 block of Old Highway 80. The patient was life-flighted to Sharp Memorial Hospital.

2 ARRESTED IN EL CAJON AFTER VIOLENT ROBBERY; 3RD SUSPECT REMAINS AT LARGE

August 25, 2011 (El Cajon) – Two armed robbery suspects were arrested last night in the 1300 block of Peach Avenue in El Cajon following a high-speed chase. A third suspect is still outstanding, according to San Diego Police. The three suspects, all African-American, robbed a couple in their apartment at 4041 Oakcrest Drive in San Diego’s mid-city and pistol-whipped one of the victims.
