September 20, 2016 (San Diego) - San Diego State came up short in its annual match against No. 7 University of San Diego as it fell to the Toreros in three sets (25-21, 25-19, 26-24) Tuesday evening on Aztec Court. The win was the eighth in a row for the visitors, who improved to 9-2 on the season while SDSU saw its four-match win streak end and its record fall to 8-6.

September 17, 2016 (San Diego) - San Diego State completed a perfect weekend with three-set victories over Long Beach State (25-19, 25-22, 25-20) and Cal State Fullerton (25-13, 25-16, 25-12) on Saturday on Aztec Court. Those wins, couple with the three-set triumph over UC Santa Barbara Friday evening, improved the Aztecs to 8-5 as they end the week on a four-match winning streak.

With the victory SDSU improved to 6-5 on the season while the Gauchos saw a three-match winning streak end and their record fall to 8-3.

September 16, 2016 (Denver) - After sweeping the Giants for the second time this season (they’re the only team the Padres have swept this year, by the way), the Padres made their way east to Denver for another series against the Rockies.  Christian Friedrich started against Tyler Chatwood.

The Padres took advantage of their NL West friends early.  Wil Myers hit a two-run home run in the first and it was 2-0 Friars.

The Aztecs captured seven of the top t10 spots in the final pentathlon individual standings.

September 13, 2016 (Alberquerque) - San Diego State women’s golfer Sirene Blair (South Jordan, Utah) finished second at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational Tuesday after posting a school-record 54-hole total of 13-under-par 203 at UNM Championship Course. The Aztec senior fired a final-round 70 on the par-72, 6,317-yard track to jump one spot on the individual leaderboard for her 11th top-five placement as a collegian. In the process, Blair eclipsed her own program standard of 11-under 205 set at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown last October.
