May 1, 2017 (El Cajon) - On May Day, Granite Hills and Grossmont girls lacrosse faced off on the final game of both teams’ seasons.  The Eagles entered tonight with an impressive season, going 10-4 overall and 5-2 in league.  The Foothillers could stand to do a little better; they were 5-10 overall and 3-4 in league play entering tonight.

May 1, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State senior left-hander Brett Seeburger has been named the Mountain West Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played through Sunday, April 30, 2017. It is the second MW weekly accolade of the season for the Aztec hurler.

May 1, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State middle blocker Deja Harris has been selected as one of 31 players to the U.S. Collegiate National Team-Minneapolis (CNT-Minneapolis) program. Five spots remain open for the CNT-Minneapolis program pending final outcome of the U.S. Women’s Junior National Team’s results at the Women’s U20 Pan American Cup held in early May.

May 1, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State water polo’s Alyssa Diacono and Caroline Israels were named to the 2017 Golden Coast Conference All-Tournament Team, the league announced Monday morning. It is the second career honor for Diacono and the third for Israels.

April 30, 2017 (San Diego) - New Mexico scored five unanswered runs in the top of the seventh inning as it came behind for the third time in the game to defeat San Diego State 12-10 Sunday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

April 30, 2017 (Santa Clara) - Top-seeded San Diego State dug itself too big a hole to climb out of and fell to second-seeded Pacific, 11-7, on Sunday in the title game of the Golden Coast Conference Championship. The Aztecs fell to 18-14 on the season, while the Tigers moved to 20-8.

April 30, 2017 (Logan, Utah) - Shelby Thompson (Benicia, Calif.) and Jenavee Peres (Garden Grove, Calif.) each hit grand slams to lead the San Diego State softball team to a 15-5, five-inning victory over Mountain West-leading Utah State in the series finale Sunday in Logan, Utah. The Aztecs improved to 26-17 overall and 10-8 in MW play, while the Aggies dropped to 32-12 and 14-6.

April 30, 2017 (Gold River, Calif.) - The San Diego State rowing team finished off the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on Lake Natoma with a win in the second varsity eight final, second place finishes in the varsity eight and varsity four finals, and a fourth-place finish in the novice eight final.

April 29, 2017 (San Francisco) - Remember those Bad Luck Brian memes from 2007?  That was pretty much the Padres’ night last night; they stayed in the game, but a late home run gave the Giants the lead.  However, the Padres’ perseverance gave everyone some hope coming into tonight.  Jhoulys Chacin started on the mound for the Padres against Matt Cain, who’s been pitching surprisingly well.

April 29, 2017 (San Diego) - After being shut out Friday evening, New Mexico scored 11 runs over the first three innings and went on to an 11-6 victory over San Diego State Saturday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The win for the Lobos evened the weekend series at one game apiece.

April 29, 2017 (Logan, Utah) - The San Diego State softball team was swept in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Utah State. The Aztecs (25-17, 9-8 MW) opened with a 4-2 loss to the Aggies (32-11, 14-5 MW) before falling by a 4-1 score on a walk-off three-run home run in the nightcap.

April 29, 2017 (Santa Clara) - Top-seeded San Diego State cruised to a 13-7 victory over fourth-seeded Azusa Pacific in the semifinal round of the Golden Coast Conference Championship at Sullivan Aquatic Center in Santa Clara. The win pushed the Aztecs into Sunday’s title game vs. second-seeded Pacific.

April 29, 2017 (Philadelphia) - San Diego State had three players selected in the 2017 NFL Draft, which wrapped up Saturday in Philadelphia. Nico Siragusa and Donnel Pumphrey were each picked in the fourth round, while Damontae Kazee was selected early in the fifth round.

April 29, 2017 (Gold River, Calif.) - The San Diego State rowing team traveled north for the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on Lake Natoma. The Aztecs raced four boats at the regatta on Saturday, three of which determined race lanes for Sunday’s grand final events.

April 27, 2017 (Los Angeles) - Behind senior Ijeoma Ikpe’s school record-tying seven goals, the fifth-seeded San Diego State lacrosse team posted its first-ever victory at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament with an 18-13 triumph over Oregon in the quarterfinals Thursday at McAlister Field.

April 27, 2017 (Spring Valley) - Mount Miguel softball is a little worse for wear; they’re 5-7 overall and 1-3 in league play so far heading into today’s game against El Capitan.  The Vaqueros are a different story; they sport a decent 12-10 overall record, but are undefeated in league play with a 4-0 record coming into today.  Sophomore Nya Maga started on the hill for the Matadors against junior Elena Laddon for the Vaqueros.
