November 22, 2019 (Columbia, Mo./Flagstaff) - San Diego State’s swimming team finished its time at the Mizzou Invite while the diving team completed day one of the NAU Diving Invite Friday. The Aztecs’ swimmers placed third out of 13 teams in Missouri with 585 points, while the diving squad swept the podium in the platform diving competition and collected second and third-place finishes in the 1-meter contest at the NAU Invite.

JIMMIE JOHNSON RACES INTO HISTORY, ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

November 20, 2019 (San Diego’s East County) – Jimmie Johnson, who made history after winning a seven NASCAR Sprint championships, has announced he is on track to retire next year.  A native of East County honored as a hometown hero locally, Johnson posted a video titled “#Chasing 8  one final time” on his Twitter feed to announce his final season.

In the video, he states, “I’m so thankful for 18 incredible years of racing in NASCAR. The sport has been good to me. It has allowed me to do something I truly love. I showed up chasing a dream and achieved more than I ever thought possible. I’m looking forward to next season and celebrating what will be my last year as a full-time NASCAR Cup driver. November 17, 2019 (San Diego) - The Aztec women’s basketball team (3-2) defeated Cal State Fullerton (2-2) 55-45 inside Viejas Arena Sunday afternoon.

In a defensive battle, the Aztecs outlasted the Titans by holding them to 28 percent shooting from the field and 15 percent from three. SDSU outrebounded Cal State Fullerton 51-41, led by Mallory Adams’ 12 boards.

November 16, 2019 (San Diego) - The Aztec men’s soccer team closed out the season with a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to UCLA on the SDSU Sports Deck Saturday evening. The Bruins scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute, ending a streak of 298 scoreless minutes for the Aztec defense.

The Aztecs placed 31st (out of 35) and were led by Steele Canyon alum Carlene Masar who finished in 21:44.5 (111th), a new career-best 6k time.

November 9, 2019 (San Diego) - The Aztec women's basketball team (1-1) rallied from a double-digit second half deficit to beat Towson (0-2) 80-72 in their home opener Saturday afternoon.

Five Aztecs scored in double-figures, led by Téa Adams' 16. Mallory Adams had 15 points and Taylor Kalmer had 13. Zayn Dornstauder had 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds while Sophia Ramos added 10, all of which came in the second half, and dished out a team-best six assists.

November 9, 2019 (Provo, Utah) - Jordan Schakel and K.J. Feagin each drained a 3-pointer late to help San Diego State get past BYU 76-71 on Saturday.

Schakel hit 5 of 7 from deep and finished with 19 points and Malachi Flynn added 17 points while dishing out five assists for SDSU (2-0) which halted a six-game losing streak in Provo. Feagin finished with 12 points.  Nathan Mensah had seven points to go with 11 rebounds.

November 9, 2019 (San Diego) - The Aztec men’s soccer team (4-11-2) played Omaha (3-8-4) to a 0-0 draw Friday evening on the SDSU Sports Deck.

The Aztecs outshot Omaha 22-6 and had the advantage of playing a man up for the match’s final 94 minutes after the Mavericks’ Billy Hoffmann was issued a red card in the 17th minute.

In a game where neither team led by more than four points in the second half, Hawai’i made five of their final six field goals to hold off the Aztecs in a nail-biter. SDSU had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but Sophia Ramos’ three-pointer rimmed out.
