ATTEMPTED ROBBERY AT CRICKET WIRELESS IN LA MESA

November 11, 2012 (La Mesa)--A suspect armed with a knife attempted to rob the Cricket Wireless store located at 7014 University Avenue in La Mesa. 

On November 10 around 6:27 p.m., La Mesa Police Department received a report of an attempted robbery that had just occurred at the Cricket Wireless store located at 7014 University Avenue. An employee reported that the suspect entered the store, walked behind the counter and brandished a large knife.

The suspect then announced that he was robbing the store and demanded cash. The clerk ran away from the suspect and left the store. The suspect then fled the store as well and was last seen running southbound across University Avenue, police indicated. There was no loss. The employee was not injured. 

Suspect Description: Hispanic male, 20-30 years old, about 5’7” tall, approximately 180 pounds, wearing a red sweater, beige or light khaki pants, and a brown baseball hat. The suspect concealed his face with a black scarf wrapped around his head. The clerk described the weapon as a 12” long butcher knife.
