Huskies sweep Aztecs in neutral-court match in Moraga

February 11, 2017 (Moraga, Calif.) - The San Diego State women's tennis team fell in a tough battle against the Washington Huskies, 7-0, on Saturday at the Korth Tennis Complex.
In doubles action, the Huskies got ahead in the first match of the day as Kenadi Hance and Alexis Prokopuik nabbed a 6-2 win over Mia Smith and Alli Valk. SDSU got a win of their own, as Kennedy Davis and Paola Diaz downed Nour Abbes and Katarina Kopcalic, 6-1, but the Huskies closed out doubles play win a second win as Stacey Fung and Miki Kobayashi defeated Jana Buth and Marina Colvee, 6-1, claiming the doubles point for UW.
The Aztecs were unable to find their footing in singles play, turning over the first match to the Huskies as Kenadi Hance blanked Colvee, 6-0, 6-0. Kopcalic followed shortly after, taking down Olivia Larsson in a similar 6-0, 6-0 matchup. Abbes led the Huskies to a dual victory, defeating Davis 6-3, 6-2. Finishing off the day, the remaining three matches were claimed by UW, as No. 115 Prokopuik battled and won against Smith, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, Fung claimed a 6-3 victory over Buth, and Kobayashi held on to finish off Diaz, 2-6, 7-6, 10-4.
Following today’s tough loss, the Aztecs (3-4) will return to Saint Mary’s home courts tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. to face the Gaels.
