Call for Submissions Answered by Hundreds, Exhibit Brings Exposure to Local Talent
October 8, 2012 (San Diego)--The San Diego Public Library is calling on San Diego county authors who have published books in 2012 to submit them to the 47th Annual Local Authors Exhibit. The aim of the Exhibit is to nurture writers, foster the pursuit of the writing arts and to create a great opportunity for the recognition of San Diego literary talents. The deadline for registering and submitting books is Monday, December 10, 2012. Authors may register online at www.sandiegolibrary.org.
The 47th Annual Local Author Exhibit will run the entire month of February 2013 in the lobby of the Central Library, located downtown at 820 E Street, San Diego, CA 92101. Participants will be invited to attend a special exhibition preview and author’s reception prior to the public unveiling. An Online Gallery, which lasts the whole year, accompanies the Exhibit and includes book information, cover images, author photos, and publishing and contact information.
The San Diego Public Library has long hosted special events for authors including book discussions, writing workshops and author talks, where writers are able to interact directly with their readers as they share, sell and sign their books. "We present this event for reading interest as well as the opportunity to highlight the diverse and abundant talent we have locally," said San Diego Public Library director Deborah Barrow.

47th Annual Authors Exhibit
As a writer and book reviewer with the East County Magazine and the book review editor for SDWriteway, an online newsletter for writers in San Diego, as well as having been a freelance contributor to EURweb and the San Diego Union-Tribune Newspaper, I am usually reviewing the books of other authors. But this past year I had the distinct honor of participating in the 46th Annual Authors Exhibit at the downtown San Diego County library, with my book about Chicago politics; The City That Works: Power, Politics and Corruption in Chicago. I was also honored to see so many other authors in attendance at the event that I had written reviews of their books. Over the last few years I had written reviews of the following authors that have participated at this prestigious event: Paul Vanderwood (Satan's Playground & Juan Soldado), Max Sturman (Obesity - The Solution), Cheri Seymour (The Last Circle), Joshua Graham (Beyond Justice), Zohreh Ghahremani (Sky of Red Poppies), Iolanda Scripca (Lava of My Soul), John Inman (Tonk and the Battle of the 200), T.J. Johnson (Chapter & Verse, Crosswords and Other Puzzles), Bryna Kranzler (The Accidental Anarchist), Linda Loegel (If You Don't Like Worms, keep Your Mouth Shut), Diana Lindsay (Ricardo Breceda: Accidental Artist), Kristin Orloff (American Wings, Iranian Roots), Anat Tour (Mama's Shoe & The Rainbow Animals), Debra Roberts Torres-Reyes (Negroes, Flies and Wet Toilet paper - Confessions of a Preacher's Daughter: Losing My Religion and Finding God), Sam Warren (The Bible Naked: The Greatest Fraud Ever Told). I am currently working on a book by David McCabe (Without Sin), who has told me that he will be participating in the 47th Annual Authors Exhibit, as well as one by Caitlin Rother (Lost Girls) and Lee Silber (Runaway best Seller) whom both have participated in this event in the past, and whom I anticpate will participate this upcoming year. The good thing about this event, is that it affords all participants an opportunity to have library sponsored book signings at some future date, as well as much exposure and publicity.
