April 15, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres were embarrassed last night. They had two more games to bounce back. Freddy Peralta started for the Brewers tonight against Seth Lugo.
Once again, the Brewers took charge in the first with a Jesse Winker double that scored Christian Yelich. Brian Anderson singled to score Winker, but in the home half, the Padres made the effort to tie with Nelson Cruz’s single that singled Juan Soto and Jake Cronenworth’s single that scored Xander Bogearts and we were tied at two after one.
Manny Machado gave the Pads the lead in the second with a liner to left that scored Trent Grisham and the Padres led 3-2 after two.
Winker was hit by a pitch in the fourth with the bases loaded that tied the game by allowing ex-Padre Victor Caratini to score from third and we were tied at three after four.
From then on, it was all Padres. Cronenworth blasted a two-run homer in the fifth and the Padres regained the lead, up 5-3 after five.
Nelson Cruz hit a sac fly in the seventh that scored Juan Soto. Cronenworth belted another two-run jack. Cruz walked with bases loaded in the eighth, allowing Jose Azocar to score from third. Cronenworth walked to score Soto and the Padres’ run party allowed them their first win of the series, 10-3.
