June 30, 2023 (Cincinnati) - After a disappointing visit to Pittsburgh, the Padres tried their luck in Cincinnati. Seth Lugo started against Graham Ashcraft for the Reds.
Trent Grisham finally broke the tie in the sixth with a solo homer, but the Reds took over. Jake Fraley singled in the sixth to score Elly De La Cruz, Tyler Stephenson hit a solo homer in the seventh and Cincy led 2-1 after seven.
Matt Carpenter tied the game in the ninth with a sac fly that scored Xander Bogaerts and we went to extras tied at two.
Fernando Tatis Jr. singled to score Rougned Odor in the 10th, Juan Soto doubled to score Tatis Jr., but Matt McClain hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th to tie the game at four after 10.
Gary Sanchez singled in the 11th to score Bogaerts, but De La Cruz doubled in the home half to score Jonathan India and Spencer Steer hit a two-run homer and the Reds walked off the Padres in extras 7-5.
