April 30, 2023 (Mexico City) - The Padres had a wild win over the Giants yesterday.  They looked for the sweep today with Alex Cobb on the mound for San Francisco against Yu Darvish.

Three solo home runs came from the Giants in the first, second and fourth.  The first was from LaMonte Wade Jr., the second was from J.D. Davis and the fourth was from Mitch Haniger.  Mike Yastrzemski singled up the middle to score Michael Conforto and the Giants led 4-0 after four.

Austin Nola put the Padres on the board in the fifth with a two-run homer to center.  Juan Soto drove in Fernando Tatis Jr. with a single to right and the Giants’ lead was cut to 4-3 after five.

The Padres finally tied the game in the eighth with a single to right from Jake Cronenworth that scored Soto from second.  Matt Carpenter hit a fly ball to center that Yastrzemski couldn’t catch on a dive, allowing two runs to score and the Padres avoided heartbreak and secured the sweep in Mexico City with a 6-4 win.
