June 14, 2017 (Secaucus, N.J.) - After San Diego State Aztec pitcher Brett Seeburger (St. Louis, 10th rd.) was taken on Tuesday during day two of the annual Major League Draft, four fellow Aztecs heard their names called on Wednesday during final day of the pro selection process. That foursome included seniors Marcus Reyes (LHP) and CJ Saylor (RHP) plus juniors Alan Trejo (2B) and Tyler Adkison (OF).

Trejo (Downey, Calif./Warren HS) was the first SDSU player taken on Wednesday, going to the Colorado Rockies in the 16th round. The junior infielder hit .332 this past season with 17 doubles, 4 home runs and 36 RBI. He led the team in runs scored with 58. Trejo was named to the All-Mountain West second team after hitting .348 in league play. He was also a member of the all-tourney team at the Mountain West Tournament in Albuquerque, N.M.

Saylor, selected in the 28th round by the St. Louis Cardinals, was SDSU’s closer this past season when he compiled a record of 3-0 with 13 saves and a 2.45 earned run average. The right-hander from West Covina, Calif., (South Hills HS) earned all-tourney honors at the 2017 Mountain West Tournament where he recorded a save and a win in two appearances. His 13 saves this past season rank fourth on the SDSU single-season list and his career total of 24 ties for second in program history.

Adkison (Culver City, Calif./Mater Dei HS), who was chosen in the 32nd round by the Los Angeles Dodgers, was a first-team All-Mountain West honoree in 2017 after batting .375 with 42 RBI over 30 games in league play. Overall he hit .337 with 14 doubles, a triple, 15 home runs, 64 RBI and 43 runs scored. In addition to leading the team in homers and RBI, he also topped the squad with a .648 slugging percentage and a .445 on-base mark. Adkison was recently named a 2017 Perfect Game/Rawlings Honorable Mention All-American.

Reyes (Vista, Calif./Rancho Buena Vista HS), was a 38th-round choice of the Toronto Blue Jays. The senior lefty ended the 2017 campaign with a record of 4-2 and a 2.96 earned run average. He recorded 40 strikeouts and 14 walks over 54.2 innings and opponents hit .237 against him. Reyes was named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week in early May and his conference stats included a mark of 1-1 with a 1.32 earned run average in eight appearances.
