February 29, 2016 (Lakeside)--Lakeside is a rural area in the Eastern region of San Diego County. Many people find it a great place to call home, but like the rest of San Diego County, it has a growing problem with chronic disease and other health concerns.

Throughout the month of March, California Health Network, a nonprofit organization based in East County, is doing its part in improving  the health of the citizens of Lakeside by sponsoring Lakeside Health Awareness Month. Another 32 local health and fitness businesses are offering free and discounted services to  citizens of Lakeside. You can view the offers here: http://californiahealthnetwork.org/healthawarenessmonth

You can also click on the ads that will be posted in East County Magazine throughout March. If you LIKE California Health Network’s Facebook page, you will receive health and fitness information that’s relevant to Lakeside, throughout the month. There will also be information about participating health and fitness businesses in the area. Check out the page here: https://www.facebook.com/CaliforniaHealthNetwork/?ref=settings

Dozens of posters have been displayed around Lakeside that have information on the offers and links, along with details on the “It’s How We Live” community health event, organized by the Park and Recreation Department of San Diego County, which will be held at Lindo Lake Park on March 12th between 9 a.m-12p.m. The event will feature entertainment, drawings, health screenings, and information from a host of health related organizations.

In January, California Health network’s promotion, Santee Health Awareness Month, reached thousands of  Santee residents through social media, local news and radio, and dozens of posters, displayed by businesses throughout the city.

34 businesses offered free and discounted services to residents of Santee, and the City Council issued a proclamation for January, making it officially “Santee Health Awareness Month”. Senator Joel Anderson issued more than 30 Certificates of Recognition to participating businesses.

Dianne Jacob and the County Board of Supervisors issued a Proclamation to support this months’ promotion. The Supervisors  commend “California Health Network for its dedicated service to the wellbeing of residents in the region, and hereby declare the month of March to be ‘Lakeside Health Awareness Month’ throughout San Diego County.”
