November 5, 2019 (Lakeside) - Conquer what is arguably the toughest trail in the county this Veterans Day weekend. Trek up El Cajon Mountain in El Capitan County Preserve during the Warrior Hike Challenge on Saturday, Nov. 9.

The prospectors want their gold back, the townspeople want their town back—and they all want you OUT!

September 20, 2019 (Lakeside) – Lakeside Friends of the Library invites you to a fundraiser on Monday, Sept. 23 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Boll Weevil Restaurant at 9741 Winter Gardens Blvd.
 
20 percent of food and beverage purchases will support programs at the library.  The event includes a silent auction and raffle prizes, plus Origami Owl Custom Jewelry by Jenn Jordan; 25 percent of jewelry sales will benefit Lakeside Friends of the Library.

SENATOR BRIAN JONES HOSTS EAST COUNTY TOWN HALL AUG. 22 IN LAKESIDE

August 15, 2019 (Lakeside) – “It’s important that your voice is heard,” reads a flyer from State Senator Brian Jones, who will host an East County Town Hall on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019 at the Lakeside Community Center (9841 Vine St., Lakeside).  There will be a local Nonprofit Expo first from 5-6 p.m., followed by a Town Hall from 6-7:30 p.m.

BARONA POWWOW AUG. 30-SEPT. 1 CELEBRATES NATIVE AMERICAN TRADITIONS

August 8, 2019 (Lakeside) - The 49thtth annual Barona Powwow takes place Friday, August 30th through Sunday, September 1st at the Barona Sports complex on the Barona Indian reservation.

 

The public is welcome to come watch Native dancers and drummers from across the nation compete at the powwow, where you can also find craft vendors and food such as tacos made with Native American fry bread. 

MAPLEVIEW CAMP BENEFIT CONCERT IN LAKESIDE JULY 28

July 15, 2019 (Lakeside) – A concert by Pete and Norene Cook in Lakeside will benefit youths in our area who can’t afford summer camp.  Mapleview Baptist Church will host the concert on Sunday, July 28 at 6 p.m.

May 28, 2019 (Lakeside) - The Lakeside RiverPark Foundation announces two events next weekend.  A guided hike originally set in May has been rescheduled for Saturday,b June 8 due to rain last month. Plus, you can help clean-up the River Park on either Friday or Saturday, June 7-8.  Below are details.

COUNTY LIBRARY CELEBRATES DIA ALL MONTH

 

Día de los Niños and Día de los Libros is more than a one-day affair at the County Library. Events celebrating Children’s Day/Book Day will take place throughout the month of April.

Mexico and many Latin American countries celebrate Día de Los Niños on April 30 but libraries across the U.S. now tie Children’s Day to the importance of books and literacy for children.

February 28, 2019 (Lakeside) — Lakeside Sheriff’s substation will hold a Coffee with the Community event on Tuesday, March 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lakeside Community Center, 9841 Vine St., Lakeside.

“Community outreach is a top priority of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.  Members of the community should feel comfortable bringing problems related to safety and security to our staff,” a press release from the Sheriff’s department states.

February 24, 2019 (Lakeside) – The Lakeside River Park Conservancy will hold a native plant sale on Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until supply runs out) at 12108 Industry Road in Lakeside.

Bring a gallon of water and snacks, a hat, sunscreen and wear sturdy shoes for this very difficult 7-hour, 12-mile round-trip hike up to the top of El Cajon Mountain.

February 29, 2016 (Lakeside)--Lakeside is a rural area in the Eastern region of San Diego County. Many people find it a great place to call home, but like the rest of San Diego County, it has a growing problem with chronic disease and other health concerns.

Throughout the month of March, California Health Network, a nonprofit organization based in East County, is doing its part in improving  the health of the citizens of Lakeside by sponsoring Lakeside Health Awareness Month. Another 32 local health and fitness businesses are offering free and discounted services to  citizens of Lakeside. Free Community Event with Chili Cook Off, Vendor Booths & Entertainment

October  6, 2013 (Lakeside) – The Lakeside Chamber of Commerce will host its first annual Beans, Beers & Business Fair on Saturday, October 12th from 10am to 5pm at the Lakeside Rodeo Grounds.
