ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES DROWN MARINERS FOR SPLIT

June 7, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres tried to split with the Mariners today.  George Kirby started for Seattle against Michael Wacha.

Matt Carpenter kicked things off with a single in the second that scored Gary Sanchez and the Padres led 1-0 after two.

 

Sanchez did it again in the third, blasting a three-run homer and the Padres led 4-0 after three. 

 

Juan Soto singled in the fourth to score Fernando Tatis Jr. and the Padres led 5-0 after four.

 

Soto singled to right in the fifth to score two and the Padres led 8-0 after five.

 

Ha-Seong Kim scored in the seventh, Soto doubled to score Trent Grisham and the Padres rebounded to split with the Mariners with a 10-3 win.

 

UP NEXT

 

After a day off tomorrow, the Padres head to Denver for the weekend.  Game one on Friday is at 5:40 p.m.  Yu Darvish starts against a pitcher to be named for the Rockies.
