September 12, 2016 (San Francisco) - After a fairly decent showing against the Rockies at home in which they split the series, the Padres found themselves on the road again once more. Their first stop was in San Francisco, where they took on Jeff Samardzija and the Giants starting tonight. Paul Clemens started for the Padres.
Even though the Giants are second in the NL West, the Padres got the upper hand on them. Yangervis Solarte singled in the fourth to score Luis Sardinas and San Diego was up 1-0.
In the fifth on what would’ve been a double play ball, Solarte beat it out to first and drove in another run in Paul Clemens and the Padres went up 2-0.
Hector Sanchez added on in the sixth with his third home run of the season and thanks to the former Giant, the score was 4-0 Padres. They’d carry that to the end to start the series on the right foot.
Game two is tomorrow at 7:15 p.m. Albert Suarez will start for San Francisco against Clayton Richard.
