March 2, 2018 (San Diego) - West Hills High grad Katie Byrd’s two-out triple in the bottom of the fourth inning led the San Diego State softball team past No. 21/20 Minnesota 6-2 Friday night at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs (8-11), however, lost the nightcap to CSUN 2-0.

SDSU outhit the Golden Gophers (11-5), 8-5, in the opener and used solid pitching off the bench from reigning MW Pitcher of the Week Alex Formby (4.0 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 4 K) to secure the win.

Against CSUN (7-11), San Diego State allowed a run in the third and a solo homer in the seventh, while unable to get its bats going in the setback.

The Aztecs play Boston University at 7 p.m. tomorrow continuing their play in the San Diego Classic I.
