June 13, 2017 (Secaucus, N.J.) - San Diego State pitcher Brett Seeburger has been selected in the 10th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. The senior left-hander was the 304th selection in the draft, which concluded the second of three days on Tuesday.

Seeburger (Oceanside, Calif. / Vista HS) earned All-Mountain West first team honors and was named the conference Pitcher of the Year after compiling an 8-2 record with a 4.27 earned run average in league play.

His overall statistics included a record of 10-3 along with a 4.53 earned run average. His win total led the conference and his overall ERA was second best in the Mountain West. In addition, he finished fifth with 69 strikeouts and his .281 opponent batting average ranked seventh.

Seeburger earned two Mountain West Pitcher of the Week awards during the 2017 season. His first honor came for his performance at Fresno State on March 25 when he tossed eight innings of shutout ball and faced one batter over the minimum in the win over the Bulldogs. His second Pitcher of the Week award came after throwing 7.1 scoreless innings vs. New Mexico on April 28, allowing only three singles.

He was involved in three of SDSU’s five shutout victories this past season and appeared on the watch list for the National Pitcher of the Year Award presented by the College Baseball Hall of Fame.

The 2017 MLB Draft continues on Wednesday (June 14) with rounds 11 through 40.
