FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL FIRE HAZARDS; USERS CAN BE LIABLE FOR DAMAGES, CAL FIRE WARNS

 
June 29, 2012 (San Diego)--Your Independence Day celebration can be ruined if fireworks injure one of your family or friends. Cal Fire reminds everyone that all fireworks are illegal throughout San Diego County. Their use, transportation or possession could result in a fine or jail. Cal Fire also advises anyone causing a fire with fireworks would be responsible for the damages.

PATRIOTIC BANNERS TO HONOR SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN FROM ESCONDIDO, SPONSORS SOUGHT

 
May 9, 2012 (Escondido) -- Sponsors are being sought for patriotic banners honoring men and women from Escondido that have served in our Armed Forces. Up to one hundred, eight-foot-tall banners will be displayed on light poles throughout Downtown Escondido by the middle of June through Independence Day, each one honoring a specific Escondido service person. Each banner will include a photo of the honored serviceman or women, his or her name, and the branch and era of service.
