August 12, 2019 (Santee) – The Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association (PSRM), a San Diego-area historical and educational nonprofit, will host a free presentation on the history of railroading in San Diego County at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 17th at the Santee Historical Society’s barn building, 9200 Magnolia Ave., Santee. July 17, 2019 (Santee) - The July 27 Concert at the Lakes in Santee will feature a “whole lot of rock ‘n’ roll and a little bit of country,” according to organizers. This year’s lineup of the event at Santee Lakes will feature Shannon Rae & 100 Proof, Tom Petty and the Heartshakers and DSB.

February 2, 2019 (Santee) – Off Broadway Live in Santee will donate all proceeds from its March 24^th, 3 p.m. showing of “The Bridge” to benefit homeless kids at teens at Father Joe’s Villages.

The musical focuses on six people whose lives were forever changed by what happened one night on a bridge.  The bridge knows their secrets, and at a reunion of their high school football championship season, everyone will be there—and the bridge is waiting.

May 7, 2018 (Santee) - The city of Santee invites you to Fido Fest on June 9^th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Town Center Community Park East (550 Park Center Drive in Santee).

This event will feature dog adoptions, exhibitors, giveaways, demonstrations, live entertainment and a silent auction to benefit Dogs on Deployment, which helps deployed military members find volunteers to board their pets while they are away.

September 6, 2016 (Santee) - Santee’s annual Bluegrass Festival is a wine, beer and food tasting mixed with music and assorted fundraising activities, including a treasure-filled opportunity drawing and silent action.

People come for the fun and frivolity, but they leave behind substantial funds to support valuable ‘I’ community programs such as staffing for the Santee Teen Center.

Aug. 2, 2016 (East County) – The nine Chick-fil-A restaurants in San Diego County, including the Chick-fil-A restaurant at 9418 Mission Gorge Road, Santee, will host a “Daddy-Daughter Date Night” for fathers and daughters from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Twisted Manzanita Ales in Santee is celebrating its 4^th Anniversary on Saturday, June 28 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Santee Town Center Community Park East.

This year the brewery’s Anniversary Party will be all-inclusive, with an admission price that covers everything, including access to their Craft Spirits Lounge featuring Twisted Manzanita spirits. Guests will receive 6 samples of various craft spirits. The Anniversary Party will have a culinary spread provided by local San Diego restaurants.

March 21, 2013 (Santee) – American Home Show will present the first-ever Spring Home Show at the Town Center Community Park  and Santee Sport Complex in Santee on April 5, 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.  Admission is free.

‘The show inspires homeowners with countless ideas on enhancing their home’s comfort and functionality, as well as being labeled “made in America,” a press release from organizers states. The event will showcase hundreds of home improvement and landscaping exhibits, with product demonstrations . Attractions will also include live entertainment, speakers, an American business mixer, barbecue competition cook-off, gunny sack race, and a kids’ village.

Solar Shines Bright To Help San Diego Fight Construction Of Gas Power Plant 

July 25, 2012 (Santee) – San Diego’s Planning Commission voted last week against rezoning open space near Mission Trails Regional Park to install a gas-fired power plant. But the decision can be appealed at City Council.  Residents in Santee and San Diego have voiced strong opposition to the Quail Brush power plant on the site  bordering both communities. 

“We have created the San Diego Solar Program to offer a reliable clean energy solution that benefits our local communities,” said Daniel Sullivan, founder and president of Sullivan Solar Power. “Not only are program participants saving money and helping our region meet our energy demands, they are getting paid to do so.”

To help with declaring energy independence, a free San Diego Solar Program informational solar luncheon is being hosted for East County residents on Saturday, August 4, at 11 a.m. at Santee City Hall, Civic Building #7 (10601 Magnolia Ave, Santee, CA 92071).
