October 6, 2020 (San Diego’s East County) -- Did you know that October is California Archaeology Month?  Consider marking the occasion by signing up for a talk by Anne Morgan, co-author of Geoglyphs of the Desert Southwest: Earthen Art as Viewed from Above. The mysterious and beautiful geoglyphs found in the desert southwest are one of the largest concentrations found outside of Peru’s Nazca Lines.

SDSU ANTHROPOLOGY PROFESSOR'S BIO-ARCHAEOLOGICAL DIG IN OAXACA, MEXICO LEADS TO NEW DISCOVERIES

 

August 29, 2013 (San Diego) – Leave it to an anthropologist to have a closet full of skeletons — literally. Arion Mayes does, and she can tell you the story behind each and every one of them.

“I work with human remains ranging from six months to 18,000 years old,” said the San Diego State University professor of anthropology.

ALPINE LIBRARY ANNOUNCES JANUARY EVENTS

January 1, 2013 (Alpine)--The Alpine branch of the San Diego County Library announces its calendar of events for January.  View the full calendar here.  Below are highlights, including visits with a therapy dog, a hands-on archaeology project, and book talks complete with bagels and books:

Tues. 1/15 – RUFF Readers – 3:30 pm Read to Cabo, a Therapy Dog; sign-up for a 15-minute slot by calling  619-445-4221. Age 5+ welcome! Walk-ins are OK.
