MOTORCYCLE INJURY NEAR WARNER SPRINGS

 

June 16, 2011 (Warner Springs) 5:25 p.m. –A female motorcyclist has been airlifted to Palomar Hospital with moderate injuries, Cal-Fire confirms.  CHP's website indicates 10-20 motorcyclists at the scene, however CAL-Fire has clarified that only one was seriously injured.  The crash occurred on State Route 79 at Chihuahua Road. The road is currently closed.

PILOT, 87, DIES FROM INJURIES AFTER PLANE CRASH IN WARNER SPRINGS

January 11, 2010 (Warner Springs) – Richard Hawkins, 87, has died of injuries after the World War II Trainer plane (tail number N57027) that he was flying crashed crashed late yesterday at Warner Springs Airport. His son remains hospitalized in critical condition at Palomar Medical Center, 10 News reports.

“Tonight at 5:24 p.m., three engines companies under the direction of Battalion Chief John Butz responded,” Cal-Fire battalion chief Nick Schuler said yesterday. “When firefighters arrived, the aircraft was in multiple pieces.”

WARNER SPRINGS RANCH COMES FULL CIRCLE WITH PALA PURCHASE

January 4, 2010 (Warner Springs)--For historic Warner Springs Ranch, time seems circular as its past echoes for a return. In keeping with a Native American trend to buy back ancestral land, the Pala Band of Mission Indians is purchasing its former homeland, Warner Springs Ranch.

CONTROLLED BURN APRIL 14 AT WARNER SPRINGS

 

April 13, 2010 (Warner Springs)--CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire Authority will be conducting a burn project tomorrow, April 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.near the community of Warner Springs. Crews will be burning piles of brush which was removed from the Warner Springs Estates area. Smoke may be visible from Highway 79 and surrounding areas.

FEDERAL STIMULUS FUNDS BUY NEW FIRE ENGINE FOR WARNER SPRINGS AREA

 

 

March 8, 2010 (Warner Springs)--Warner Springs and the San Diego County region are safer after the County used approximately $475,000 in federal stimulus money to buy a new Type 1 fire engine to improve backcountry protection.

WARNER SPRINGS RESIDENTS: BOIL WATER ORDER ISSUED

October 14, 2009 (Warner Springs) – A boil water order has been issued by the County of San Diego, Department of Environmental Health for customers of the Los Tules Mutual Water Company drinking water system inWarner Springs, CA, effective immediately. The water system has tested positive for contamination by Total Coliform bacteria.

June 1, 2009 (Warner Springs)—“It’s always fun when we get an adult to volunteer to be the cow,” Sherri Freeman quipped, then deftly lassoed a running parent. Nearby, youngsters saddled up on a bucking mechanical horse, ground acorns, studied history of the Butterfield Stage Coach, hiked with an ecologist, visited farm animals, and learned about wild herbs from a Native American healer.

April 29, 2009 (Warner Springs)—Feeling lucky? Join a Poker Ride Fundraiser to benefit the Warner Springs Agriculture Department on May 9th. A $75 entry fee includes entry into a 7-card-stud poker tournament, tri-tip barbecue lunch at Lake Henshaw Resort, apple pie and ice cream from the Julian Café served up at Jess Martin Park in Julian, a $10 free slot play at Santa Ysabel Casino, and buffet dinner (chicken and ribs) at Sadie’s Homestyle Restaurant. The day’s events also include live entertainment by musician Celia Lawley, a raffle, and an evening awards presentation.
