DESTINATION EAST COUNTY: MEMORABLE SEPTEMBER EVENTS

August 18, 2025 (San Diego’s East County) – As summer transitions into fall, September brings seasonal events such as an Autumn Jubilee, Grape Stomp Festa and Apple Time Tea in Julian, Oktoberfest in El Cajon, a 911 Memorial walk in Lakeside, a roaring '20s fashion show in Lemon Grove, and Poway’s annual Rotary parade. 

Plus find end of summer music jams at Santee Lakes, theatrical productions, concerts at several locations, Santee's movie in the park, comedy at Sycuan, a health fair at Parkway Plaza, and more.

HOT SUMMER FUN: CHILI COOKOFF JUNE 29 WITH LEMON GROVE LIONS CLUB TO FUND GRAFFITI CLEAN-UP

May 26, 2024 (Lemon Grove) -- Are you a fan of cooking or eating delicious chili? If so, you’ll savor the Chili Cook-Off event hosted by the Lemon Grove Lions Club and Lemon Grove Forward Club on Saturday, June 29 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will feature a chili tasting contest, where you get to help pick the best chili in Lemon Grove, music, cash bar, raffle and silent auction.
 
If you're confident in your chili-making skills, now's the perfect opportunity to showcase them by participating in the contest. For those who simply love savoring tasty chili, there will be plenty available for sampling!

March 19, 2024 (Lemon Grove) -- Are you a fan of cooking or eating delicious chili? Then this announcement is for you! Join the Lemon Grove Lions Club and Lemon Grove Forward Club for a Chili Cook-Off event. If you're confident in your chili-making skills, this is your opportunity to showcase them by participating in their contest. For those who simply love savoring tasty chili, there will be plenty available for sampling! 
 
Join the fun event Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at St. John of the Cross Parish Hall, located at 8086 Broadway, Lemon Grove, CA 91945. All proceeds will go toward Lemon Grove Charities. The fun event will feature a chili tasting contest, where you get to help pick the best chili in Lemon Grove, music, cash bar, a raffle and silent auction.

LEMON GROVE TOY DRIVE STILL ACCEPTING DONATIONS

December 15, 2023 (Lemon Grove) – The Lemon Grove Toy Drive is on its fourth year of providing free toys to Lemon Grove kids. Kids Fashion Week Network’s (KFWN) annual Toy Drive and Giveaway has become a staple in the community of Lemon Grove. Last year over 700 toys were collected at local businesses throughout Lemon Grove and were later distributed to residents at a festive holiday giveaway.

LEMON GROVE FORWARD CLUB’S 2ND ANNUAL SOCKTOBER EVENT TO HELP EAST COUNTY’S UNHOUSED NEIGHBORS IS UNDERWAY

 

October 13, 2023 (Lemon Grove) -- The Lemon Grove Forward Club is aiming to get warm new, unused socks directly into the hands of the unhoused in Lemon Grove and the rest of East County. The Forward Club was able to collect over 1100 pairs of socks last year and they are hoping this year to reach over 1600 pairs.

LEMON GROVE FORWARD CLUB CELEBRATES 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF REOPENING 85 YEAR CHARTER WITH THE WOMENS CLUB FEDERATION

 

Come celebrate the historic accomplishment of 25 community members that answered a social media post to reopen an 85-year-old service club.

 

On June 20, 2022, now President Jessyka Heredia and Vice President Teresa Rosiak put out a Facebook post asking if people in Lemon Grove and surrounding areas would like to join the 2 women in reopening the club. 50 people replied and 25 people showed up to the very first meeting in the back patio of Giardino, a local Italian restaurant. All 25 attendees ended up signing up and 1 year later the club has 28 members, one of the largest service clubs in Lemon Grove today.
