March 17, 2013 (San Diego) – Community Health Improvement Partners (CHIP) today announced the launch of the Independent Living Association (ILA) online directory. This groundbreaking new community resource will help connect San Diegans with quality Independent Living housing options. Stable and supportive housing is one of the most effective ways to encourage recovery and reduce inappropriate use of the healthcare system.

HEALTH DEPT. REPORT ON WIND TURBINES DRAWS CRITICISM; COUNTY PLANNERS TO VOTE ON WIND ENERGY ORDINANCE JULY 20

July 19, 2012 (San Diego) – Tomorrow at 9 a.m.,  San Diego County's Planning Commission will decide whether to approve a wind ordinance that would enable construction of numerous wind energy projects in our region's mountains, rural and desert communities.

Why, then, did San Diego County’s Health and Human Services Agency just issue a public health position statement that amounts to a whitewash of serious health problems linked to wind turbines around the world?

Safe Start Conference to Take Place March 18

 

March 7, 2011 (San Diego)--Given that a high number of domestic violence victims are children, the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) and its many partners are sponsoring the Safe Start San Diego 2011 Conference. The event, titled “Working with Children and Families Impacted by Violence”, will take place Friday, March 18  from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Marina Village Conference Center, 1936 Quivira Way, San Diego.

 

The conference is free and designed for professionals from any organization that serves children, youth and families; however, the general public is also welcome.

Public Guardian Steps In When Loved Ones Can’t

August 28, 2010(San Diego) -- It’s a Wednesday morning and Alejandrina Martin knocks on the door of a 67-year-old man’s apartment in a low-income complex in the Lake Murray area.

Martin is one of three Public Guardian investigators with County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency’s Public Administrator/Public Guardian (PA/PG).
