BORDER FIRE IN BOULEVARD STOPPED AT 20 ACRES

September 30, 2011 (Boulevard)—A brush fire started by lightning threatened homes this afternoon in Boulevard.

TWO BRUSH FIRES IN MEXICO

August 4, 2011 (San Diego's East County) ---Two fires are burning in Mexico, with smoke visible across portions of East County.  According to Cal-Fire Captain Mike Mohler, the blaze is approximately seven miles south of the border but poses no threat to the U.S. at this time.  One is south of Potrero/Tecate, the other south of the Otay area.

SMOKE FROM MEXICO FIRE VISIBLE IN U.S.

 

July 13, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – Cal-Fire is combating 100-acre fire in the remote “Tin Can” area in Mexico, east of the Otay port of entry and just south of the border fence.

 

“We currently have 3 engines, 2 air tankers, 1 air attack and 1 helicopter,” Cal-Fire Captain Mike Mohler said. “Aircraft and crews are pre-treating areas along the fence.”

15 ACRES IN U.S. BURNED IN MEXICO FIRE

September 27, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – The Border 11 fire which crossed into the U.S. two days ago has burned 15 acres on American soil but is now 100% contained on the U.S. side of the border, Cal-Fire Battalion Chief Nick Schuler told East County Magazine this morning. “The fire is still actively burning in Mexico on the east and west flank,” he said. In Mexico,roughly 500 acres have burned, though accurate estimates are difficult to obtain, he added.
