YOUTH INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC COMPETITION ANNOUNCED BY ROTARY: $2,500 SCHOLARSHIP GRAND PRIZE

October 22, 2017 (La Mesa) – If you’re a local high school-age student with musical talent, you’re invited to participate in the La Mesa Rotary Club’s Instrumental Music Competition on January 24th. The winner will advance to a regional contest in February, where finalists for a district-wide competition will be held in March with finalists from across San Diego and Imperial Counties. The grand prize will be a $2,500 scholarship.

LA MESA ROTARY LAUNCHES SHOE DRIVE FUNDRAISER

 

 

 

 

 

Funds raised will support an orphanage in Tecate, college scholarships for high school seniors, help for homeless teens in San Diego find safe housing, and assist Home of Guiding Hands plus other worthy causes

July 25, 2017 (La Mesa) -- La Mesa Rotary (http://www.lamesarotary.org) is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser on August 1st to October1st to raise funds for our numerous charitable projects. The collected shoes will go to those most desperate in Haiti and Africa. La Mesa Rotary will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected, as Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes. Those dollars will benefit local and international charities, one of which is the total eradication of polio. Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used and new shoes at 6804 Murray Park Dr. San Diego, CA 92119

SWEET RETREAT TO BENEFIT VOLUNTEERS IN MEDICINE MAY 4TH

 

April 29, 2013 (La Mesa) – The La Mesa Rotary will host Sweet Retreat on May 4th to benefit Volunteers in Medicine and other East County non-profit organizations at the Visitor and Interpretive Center at Mission Trails Regional Park, 1 Father Junipero Serra Trail, San Diego.  The event featuring gourmet desserts, appetizers, wine and beer will be from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and include a silent auction.

APRIL 13-14 GARAGE SALE IN SAN CARLOS TO BENEFIT LA MESA SUNRISE ROTARY

April 11, 2013 (San Carlos) – La Mesa Sunrise Rotary is hosting a garage sale in San Carlos to benefit the Rotary Club’s projects.  The sale will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Sunday, April 14 from 7:30 to 11 a.m.  The event will be held at 6210 Lake Shore Drive, San Diego.

Items for sale include tools, appliances, décor, jewelry, furniture, electronics, plants and more. Credit cards will be accepted.

DEFINING GENEROSITY: ROTARY DONATES DICTIONARIES TO LOCAL SCHOOL KIDS

 

 

November 30, 2010 (La Mesa)--The next time that third grade teachers of the La Mesa Spring Valley School District need students to look something up in a dictionary – they can.  Thanks to the Rotary Club of La Mesa, all third-graders in the District now have dictionaries of their own to keep.
