EVACUATIONS ORDERED IN HAUSER FIRE

East County Wildfire & Emergency Alerts

September 17, 2022 (San Diego’s East County) – An evacuation warning has been issued for the #HauserFire. It applies to residents who live west or north of Buckman Springs Road at Lake Morena Drive, the Sheriff reports.  Evacuees can go to Mountain Empire High School, 3305 Buckman Springs Rd., Pine Valley.

According to Cal Fire/San Diego County Fire, the brush fire began around 4:15 p.m. near 2022 Lake Morena Drive and Big Potrero Truck Trail in the Hauser Creek area of Lake Morena. Around 5-10 acres have burned with a moderate rate of spread.

February 17, 2016 (Lake Morena)--CAL FIRE and San Diego County Fire will be conducting a controlled burn today, Wednesday, February 17, 2016  near Lake Morena beginning at approximately 9:00 a.m.

Smoke may be visible throughout areas of the County.

BRUSH FIRES IN EAST COUNTY

 

 

August 27, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) – The Corners Fire burning near Lake Morena is holding at five acres with no structure threat, Kendal Bortissier with Cal Fire told East County Magazine at 3:40 p.m. today.  Air and ground resources are fighting the fire.

Bortissier confirmed that a second fire is burning in Cleveland National Forest near Cameron station. USFS has not yet responded to our call requesting details.

BRUSH FIRE AT LAKE MORENA

Update: This fire is contained. Cal-Fire's Kendal Bortisser also confirms that firefighting planes were able to draw water from Lake Morena despite draining of the lake by the City of San Diego to about 3% capacity prior to the recent rains.

July 24, 2015 (Lake Morena) - A 30-acre brush fire is burning near Lake Morena County Park at Lake Morena and Lakeview.  Cal Fire Captain Kendal Bortisser informed ECM at 1:40 p.m. that there are no structure threats but voluntary evacuations are occurring at Lake Morena Village.

The fire is burning in medium to heavy vegetation with a moderate rate of spread.  Brush Fire Partyline on Facebook reports scanner traffic indicates power lines are down.

FIRE IN LAKE MORENA AREA

Update 7:50 p.m. - A resident at the scene reports the fire is now under control and nearly extinguished.

Update 5:39 p.m. - Incident Page Network reports the fire is now 15 acres, spreading fast and moving toward structures.

July 9, 2012 (Lake Morena) – A three acre fire is burning off Bass Road in Lake Morena, Cal Fire Captain Mike Mohler has informed ECM.   “It sounds like crews can hold it,” said Mohler, who called while on the road.

Two additional air tankers and one additional helicopter have been ordered to assist in dousing the blaze, he said.  “There are structures in the area but as of now, they are not threatened.”

EXPLOSION, FIRE DESTROY HOME NEXT DOOR TO FIRE STATION

December 20, 2010 (Lake Morena) – Firefighters at the Lake Morena Fire Station heard an explosion at 8:45 p.m. last night. “They went outside and saw the house next door was on fire,” Cal-Fire Captain Mike Mohler told East County Magazine. Fire was through the roof, swiftly engulfing the small modular home.
