SAFETY NET PROGRAMS CURB CALIFORNIA'S HIGH CHILD POVERTY RATE

March 2, 2015 (Oakland, California)-- One in four California children is living in poverty, but according to a new report from the Annie E. Casey Foundation, those numbers would be much higher without federal safety net programs and tax subsidies.

October 21, 2014 (San Diego’s East County) – The U.S. Census Bureau’s data is in—and California has the highest level of poverty in the nation.   Nearly one in four Californians – 23.4 percent--are living in poverty.  That’s nearly 9 million people.
