WINTER STORM WARNING: SNOWSTORM AND HIGH WINDS FORECAST MONDAY AND TUESDAY

December 26, 2021 (San Diego’s East County) – Heavy snowfall is forecast Monday, along with wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour in San Diego’s mountain areas.  Snow is forecast to blanket local mountain communities including Pine Valley and Julian. Above 4,500 feet, four to eight inches of snow are forecast, with up to 16 inches above 6,500 feet at the highest peaks in San Bernadino and Riverside counties.

January 24, 2017 (San Diego’s East County) – “I was nearly killed by a large boulder on Friday night,” a reader told ECM, adding that multiple rock slides occurred along the highway to Ramona along the San Pasqual grade.  “The County needs to evaluate that road right now before people are killed by the boulders.”

STATE SCHOOLS CHIEF TOM TORLAKSON ANNOUNCES FUNDING RELIEF FOR SCHOOL CLOSURES DUE TO FLOODING, WINTER STORMS

January 23, 2017 (Sacramento) - State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson today directed the California Department of Education to work with all schools and school districts forced to close as a result of flooding and other winter storm related issues so that they may qualify for relief from the loss of Average Daily Attendance (ADA) funding.

WINTER STORM TO BRING HEAVY RAIN TONIGHT AND MONDAY

November 20, 2016 (San Diego’s East County) – The National Weather Service is forecasting a winter-like storm system will arrive Sunday and continue through the day on Monday. The brunt of this storm system will come after dark Sunday evening, and continue through Monday morning.  A wind advisory is also in effect for mountain and desert areas in San Diego County, where gusts up to 55 miles per hour may occur.
