November 22, 2011 (Julian) --The Julian Stage Company and the Julian Chamber of Commerce present the 2011 stage production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol--a Julian holiday tradition. 
 
Give a holiday spirit a boost with the classic story of a lonely, miserable, hard-hearted old man who finds the true meaning of life and love during one haunted Christmas Eve. It is a classic story of redemption and good cheer with a corpus of ghosts thrown into the mix.

OLD-FASHIONED HOLIDAY CELEBRATION AT JULIAN LIVING CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING NOV. 26


November 19, 2001 (Julian) -- Julian celebrates the holiday season by illuminating the town's enormous living Christmas tree--and paying homage to the individuals who contribute time and energy to making Julian what many consider the best small town in Southern California.
 
The tree lighting will take place in Julian’s Pioneer Park on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, marking the  beginning of the annual Julian Country Christmas celebration--three weeks of holiday festivity during which visitors and residents can capture the spirit of the season in an old fashioned way.

November 21, 2011 (Lemon Grove) -- The largest, annual free food distribution in East County occurred on Friday, November 18, was made by the Samoan Independent Pentecostal Church, where they rent church accommodations from the Lemon Grove Lutheran Church at 2055 Skyline Drive. This is the 8th consecutive year that Pastor Ulalei Tausaga, his wife Mai and son Smith, and their congregation performed this feat.

November 21, 2011 (Lakeside) -- The Lakeside Historical Society will be hosting its annual Mrs. Claus Gift Shoppe daily be
ginning on December 1. Gently used holiday decorations will be for sale at bargain prices.  The gift shop is located at the Olde Community Church, 9906 Maine Avenue.  Store hours are from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.

POWAY CHAMBER TO HOST HOLIDAY MIXER DEC. 1

November 21, 2011 (Poway)--The Poway Chamber of Commerce invites members and nonmembers to celebrate the season at a Holiday Mixer on Thursday, December 1, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m, at the Courtyard by Marriott, 11611 Bernardo Plaza Court, San Diego. Cost is $5 for members and $15 for prospective members.

 
The holiday mixer includes a buffet food station and opportunity drawings.  A cash bar will also be available.

PACIFIC SOUTHWEST RAILWAY MUSEUM PRESENTS NORTH POLE LIMITED “SANTA TRAIN” IN LATE NOV. & DECEMBER

November 14, 2011 (Campo)-- Celebrate the holidays aboard the North Pole Limited, a special production offered by the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum and volunteers in cooperation with the Mountain Empire High School and Santa Claus.

These Christmas Trains are favorites for children and adults of all ages.  This year the North Pole Limited will run on the following Fridays and Saturdays:  November 25-26, December 2-3, December 9-10 and December 16-17.

Wintersongs showcases music ranging from rousing Slavic folk carols and Eastern Orthodox sacred choral works to pre-Christian incantations for the longest nights of the year and Hebrew folk songs for Chanukah.

SANTA’S ON HIS WAY AT BATES NUT FARM CRAFTS FAIR NOV. 25-27

 November 15, 2011 (Valley Center) --  Bates Nut Farm will host the Annual Santa’s Coming-Craft Fair over Thanksgiving weekend. The Craft Fair will be open November 25, 26 and 27; Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Approximately 80 artisans will be selling a variety of handmade crafts and fine art, just in time to start your holiday shopping.

 
Jewelry, woodworking, candles, toys, fabric arts, and more will be available through vendors. Kids can enjoy face painting, Kids’n Paint, the farm zoo and kettle corn.

16TH ANNUAL ALPINE VILLAGE CHRISTMAS PARADE OF LIGHTS & SNOW FESTIVAL DEC 9TH

November 12, 2011 (Alpine) -- Santa arrives in Alpine Friday, December 9 at 6:30 p.m. riding down Alpine Boulevard for the 16th annual Alpine Village Christmas Parade of Lights. 

Immediately following the parade, Santa and his helpers will help light the Alpine Community Christmas Tree at the Alpine Creek Town Center, 1347 Tavern Road. Join a holiday sing-a-long, and stay for the free snow hill sledding.

November 8, 2011 (Alpine) – Sue Roff, director of the Alpine Community Center, will once again be cooking up a Thanksgiving meal for seniors who are alone or can’t travel to be with family for the holidays. Arrive at 4:30 p.m. for a light dinner, with readings beginning at 5:15 p.m. Talk back and dessert follows.
