November 10, 2011 (San Diego) -- San Diego Police Department Robbery Unit detectives have arrested Ryan McKnight, 34, and Robert Chavira, 40, in connection with a series of robberies throughout California, according to Lt. Andra Brown at SDPD. These include the September 16 armed robbery at the Ben Bridge Jewelry in Mission Valley and the November 9 armed robbery at Barona Casino in Lakeside.

November 9, 2011 (San Diego’s East County)--Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-El Cajon)has sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder objecting to a two-year prison sentence given to U.S. Patrol Agent Jesus Diaz for restraining a drug smuggler caught entering the U.S. illegally.
Testimony by other agents indicated that the suspect had already been handcuffed and was laying on his stomach, not resisting, when Diaz arrived. "It was Diaz's fellow Border Patrol Agents on the scene who testified they witnessed his misconduct, which they found shocking, and complained about it to their supervisor," the U.S. Attorney's office statement read.

November 9, 2011 (San Diego’s EastCounty) – San Diego County has issued a draft ordinance for publication review (http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/dplu/ceqa/POD1007.html. ) But critics say the plan decimates rural community planning authority and makes it easier for large wind farms to be built across broad swaths of East County.
Residents who already live near wind farms are speaking out—claiming they have suffered sleep deprivation and witnessed significant bird kills from existing turbines. They fear the impacts if multiple new wind farms are allowed to be erected across East County’s rural and scenic wilderness lands.
