JIMMIE JOHNSON RACES INTO HISTORY, ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

November 20, 2019 (San Diego’s East County) – Jimmie Johnson, who made history after winning a seven NASCAR Sprint championships, has announced he is on track to retire next year.  A native of East County honored as a hometown hero locally, Johnson posted a video titled “#Chasing 8  one final time” on his Twitter feed to announce his final season.

In the video, he states, “I’m so thankful for 18 incredible years of racing in NASCAR. The sport has been good to me. It has allowed me to do something I truly love. I showed up chasing a dream and achieved more than I ever thought possible. I’m looking forward to next season and celebrating what will be my last year as a full-time NASCAR Cup driver.
