THREE ARRESTED FOR STREET ROBBERY IN LA MESA

March 14, 2009 (La Mesa) At about 6:30 p.m. this evening, a man was robbed by three suspects while walking near Grossmont Center, La Mesa. The suspects walked up to the victim, brandished a knife, and demanded the victim's wallet, I-pod, and cell phone. The suspects took the property and ran away. The victim ran and called the police from a nearby pay phone. La Mesa Police Officers responded and contacted three suspects in the area within four minutes.

LA MESA POLICE NAB 2 SUSPECTS FOR ROBBERY AND POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY

February 10, 2009 (La Mesa)--The day after two pedestrians were robbed at gunpoint by a masked man, Antonio Rattler (photo), a 20 year old from La Mesa,was arrested for the robberies by the La Mesa Police Department.

On February 9, 2009, in the late evening hours, a masked man armed with a gun robbed two pedestrians within thirty minutes of each other in the Parkway Drive/Fletcher Parkway area of La Mesa. Police checked the area at the time but did not locate the suspect.

PROP L SPARKS DEBATE AT LA MESA OPEN FORUM MEETING

February 6, 2009 (La Mesa) -- The La Mesa City Council held an open forum meeting in the auditorium at Rolando Elementary School last Thursday night. The meetings are meant to provide an opportunity for citizens to voice concerns or input on issues throughout their city. La Mesa citizens voiced their views on an array of issues ranging from proposed cuts in police and fire budgets to road maintenance.

LA MESA HOSTS 2 TOWNHALL MEETINGS & BUDGET WORKSHOP

February 1, 2009 (La Mesa) -- As part of La Mesa's commitment to staying in touch with the community, the City Council has scheduled two Town Hall Meetings for 2009. These open forum meetings provide an opportunity for citizens to provide input on issues in their neighborhood and throughout the City. The two meetings are held in different parts of the City to give all residents a chance to participate. The City Council encourages all who are interested in the present and future of La Mesa to attend and provide their ideas, comments, and opinions.

FLAG DAY PARADE IN JEOPARDY: LA MESA SEEKS SPONSORS, DONORS TO SAVE ANNUAL EVENT

January 31, 2009 (La Mesa) -- Faced with a budget gap, La Mesa's City Council has voted not to provide financial support for the City's Flag Day Parade this year. To save the popular community event, some councilmembers and community leaders have launched a one-week fundraising drive in hopes of saving the community's parade.
