October 24, 2023 (San Diego) - San Diego County doctors share the top 6 tips to help you fight winter viruses and stay healthy.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends everyone 6 months and older get a flu shot every year. It takes about two weeks for immunity to develop, so get vaccinated early.

SAN DIEGANS URGED TO GET FLU VACCINE IN TIME FOR HOLIDAYS

October 28, 2021 (San Diego) - The County of San Diego is ramping up its flu vaccination efforts to lower the risk of San Diegans getting influenza this holiday season. County health officials are concerned this year’s flu season will be more severe than last year, when many people were staying at home due to COVID-19.

GROSSMONT HEALTHCARE DISTRICT AND CHAMPIONS FOR HEALTH HOSTING FREE DRIVE-THRU FLU SHOT CLINIC THIS SATURDAY MORNING

October 9, 2020 (La Mesa) – This Saturday, October 10, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Grossmont Healthcare District is partnering with Champions for Health and County of San Diego to provide free flu shots to the East San Diego community. To reduce the chances of a severe COVID-19 and flu combination, receiving this season’s vaccination is more crucial than ever. Everyone qualifies to receive a free flu shot, including those uninsured or underinsured, pregnant women, and children 9 years of age and older. Fresh produce distribution and giveaways for kids also available while supplies last.

COUNTY LAUNCHES INFLUENZA VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

 

September 26, 2013 (San Diego)-- County and local health officials will kick off the 2013 flu vaccination season and encourage everyone to get immunized. The San Diego Black Nurses Association will be offering 400 flu shots to adults 18 years or older for free on Friday, September 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Center, 6401 Skyline Drive in San Diego.

3RD ANNUAL TRANSPORTATION EXPO IS OCTOBER 3

 

September 11, 2012 (La Mesa) -- The 3rd Annual Transportation Expo, Highlighting Transportation Resources & Safety will be held on October 3 at 8:30 a.m. at the Community Center, 4975 Memorial Drive, La Mesa.

A variety of exhibitors and speakers will offer tips on driving and road safety, transportation options, safety related topics including how to avoid mail fraud, ensure financial safety, disaster preparedness, and crime prevention. In addition, flu shots will be given by the Sharp Senior Resource Center Team for a $2.00 donation.

SEASONAL FLU CLINICS ANNOUNCED IN LA MESA DEC. 17 & SAN DIEGO DEC. 21

 

December 14, 2009 (La Mesa) -Sharp Grossmont Senior Resource Center is offering seasonal flu vaccine from the county. The seasonal flu arrives in late December and circulates as late as February and March.

H1N1 FLU VACCINE NOW AVAILABLE IN EAST COUNTY & SAN DIEGO

 

October 6, 2009 (San Diego) -- The first allotment of H1N1 flu vaccine has arrived in San Diego County and will be administered starting today. (View video) According to state guidelines, the initial doses of H1N1 nasal spray vaccine are designated for children 2-18 years of age who are healthy and healthy household contacts of infants younger than 6 months.

26,000 doses of nasal spray vaccine will be available at various primary care physicians’ offices throughout the county. An additional 2,000 doses are being offered at County public health centers. (See locations at the end of this article).
