February 28, 2012 (San Diego)—A coalition of students and faculty at San Diego State University plan to walk out of class Thursday, March 1 at 12 noon. A rally will follow at the Scripps Cottage Patio, 5500 Campanile Drive, as part of a National Day of Action for Education at universities across America.

LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS ASSESS IMPACTS OF GOVERNOR’S MID-YEAR BUDGET CUTS

Dec. 14, 2011 (San Diego’s East County)--With a large budgetary gap on the horizon, Governor Brown announced $980 million in mid-year budget cuts on Tuesday. Colleges, libraries, and childcare facilities were hit with the hardest cuts, while K-12 education dodged the worst-case scenario that many districts had feared.

POWAY SCHOOL BOARD TO CONSIDER GETTING RID OF SCHOOL BUSES AT APRIL 19 MEETING

 

April 16, 2010 (Poway) – Faced with a budget crunch, the Poway Unified School Board will consider elimination of regular education transportation at the Poway Unified School District school board meeting on Monday, April 19. Cutting out buses would mean 3,300 Poway Unified students would have to find an alternative way to get to school.

CAJON VALLEY SCHOOL BOARD TO CONSIDER NEW BUDGET CUTS AT TUESDAY MEETING

 

February 22, 2010 (El Cajon) --Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s preliminary budget, released in January, will force more deep cuts for local schools. Tomorrow evening, Cajon Valley School Board will weigh how to cope with $3.5 million in new revenue reductions that the Governor’s budget would mean for the District---on top of a $6 million shortfall that the Board was already anticipating.
