“VIOLENT” CARTEL ASSOCIATES GET SEVERE SENTENCES FOR KIDNAPPING WOMEN IN EL CAJON

July 10, 2024 (El Cajon)—Three defendants have received lengthy prison sentences for their roles in the kidnapping for ransom and assault of two El Cajon women on behalf of a Mexican drug cartel, district attorney Summer Stephan announced yesterday.

“Drug cartels are a serious and violent threat to our community and their criminal networks should not and will not be allowed to operate in our county,” DA Stephan said. “Let this case be an example of the type of justice that will be brought forth by our dedicated gang prosecutors who work with our law enforcement partners and who risk their lives to deliver justice on behalf of victims to protect the community.”

Defendants Victor Medrano, 44, and Eliceo Flores, 36 were sentenced to life in state prison without parole and defendant Emily Gonzalez, 33, was sentenced to 24 years, eight months in custody. A fourth indicted defendant, 32-year-old Julie Soto, is scheduled for trial in December.

MAN ARRESTED FOR KIDNAPPING FORMER GIRLFRIEND IN EL CAJON

July 18, 2017 (El Cajon) – Mark David Dabrowski, a 55-year-old transient in El Cajon, has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and domestic violence.

Yesterday morning, a witness called El Cajon Police to report that Dabrowski had abducted his former girlfriend, who is also homeless, while she was sleeping on an elementary school campus.

FATHER WHO KIDNAPPED SON ARRESTED IN EL CAJON

April 17, 2011 (El Cajon) – Following a manhunt during the night for a man who abducted his 9-year-old son at gunpoint from a couple babysitting the child at 1800 East Lexington, El Cajon Police arrested Anthony Cortez, 28 early this morning. Cortez returned the child unharmed to the mother and police took him into custody at her home.

TWO MEN WANTED FOR ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING OF BOY IN EL CAJON

May 20, 2010 (El Cajon) – El Cajon Police seek a red Chevrolet El Camino with silver hubcabs and two men accused of grabbing and trying to kidnap a 12-year-old boy at 8 p.m. tonight in the 99 Cents store at 1766 East Main Street. The same men also allegedly approached a group of boys outside earlier.

One suspect is described as a 55-60 year old white man with white hair, bushy eye brows, and a pot belly. He is approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 230 pounds, and was wearing a Blue Chargers shirt and tan cargo pants. The other suspect is a white man age 45-50 with brown hair and a mustache. He wore a black T-shirt, blue jeans, brown shoes and a black ball cap.
