ROAD CLOSURES ON PUBLIC LAND IRK RURAL RESIDENTS

September 7, 2014 (San Diego’s East County) – In recent months, several readers have written to ask us why they are encountering “road closed” signs on roads in Cleveland National Forest that were formerly accessible to the public.

BACTERIA FOUND IN DRINKING WATER AT CIBBETTS FLATS CAMPGROUND IN PINE VALLEY

September 14, 2011 (Pine Valley) – The County of San Diego, Department of Environmental Health (DEH) has issued a boil water order for Cibbetts Flats Campground at Kitchen Creek Road & Fred Canyon Road in Pine Valley.  The drinking water system has tested present for total coliform bacteria and absent for E. coli.

 

SNOW MAKES TRAVEL HAZARDOUS IN EAST COUNTY MOUNTAINS

February 19, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – Heavy snowfall is making travel hazardous on East County roadways in mountain areas, resulting in numerous accidents and traffic delays tonight.

“The Cuyamaca area has received between 6 to 8 inches of snow and Mt. Laguna more than that,” Cal Fire’s Mike Mohler informed ECM in an e-mail. He advised people to avoid visiting these areas unless prepared.
