April 7, 2023 (San Diego) - San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister reminded property owners Thursday that they have twelve days left to pay the second installment of their 2022-2023 property taxes before they are charged a late penalty. 

Taxpayers can quickly and easily pay their bills online at sdttc.com. They will not be charged a convenience fee if they pay by e-check, or electronic check.  

“So far, 47.90% of taxpayers have paid $1.9 billion in second installment payments,” said McAllister.  “Property tax bills are due on April 10. To avoid a 10% penalty plus $10 fee we encourage property owners to go online and pay their second installment before the deadline.”

HOMEOWNERS, SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS MAY QUALIFY FOR PROPERTY TAX PENALTY RELIEF

December 17, 2020 (San Diego) -- San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister announced his office is accepting penalty cancellation requests for homeowners and small business owners who were impacted by COVID-19 and missed the Dec. 10 property tax deadline.

“COVID-19 has affected many in San Diego – especially our small businesses, so we want to do what we can to help those who did not have the funds to pay their taxes on time,” said McAllister. “We want to be as lenient as we can and show compassion for those who need it.”

August 17, 2020 (San Diego) -- San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister announced on Aug. 11 that his office is offering penalty relief for small business owners and homeowners who are among those receiving more than 28,000 defaulted bills. 

“We know many of the late bills are due to COVID-19, and we want our taxpayers to know there could be relief,” said McAllister. “They may qualify to have their penalties waived if they file for a COVID-19 cancellation request. Our customers must provide documentation as evidence to show how the pandemic impacted their ability to pay their second installment by April 10.”

REPUBLICANS SWEEP FOUR SAN DIEGO COUNTYWIDE ELECTIONS

June 6, 2018 (San Diego) – It was a strong night for Republicans running countywide in San Diego yesterday. The GOP swept all four countywide seats on the ballot June 5, 2018.

East County Magazine met up with all four winners at Golden Hall, and received some of their reactions as early results arrived at Golden Hall, Election Central.

November 2, 2015 (San Diego)--The season of giving has begun!  Annual secured property tax bills from our office were sent out in September.  So by now, all of you who are property owners should have received your annual secured bill.  This year, 2,269 additional bills were sent out – bringing the total to 986,858.  These secured bills will generate more than $5 billion for county operations to help our schools, our community colleges, our libraries, and so much more in our community.

August 8, 2014 (El Cajon)--Six East County politicians participated in a lively question and answer session under the stars at Cuyamaca College's Water Conservation Garden during a mild summer evening on August 7.

The location for the annual event hosted by the joint Chambers ofCommerce in East County was apropos because the state’s water issue was a hot topic discussed by local leaders. The site exemplified ways that constituents could help with the current drought. Other issues debated at the event were welfare, immigration, the local craft beer industry, using public pension funds to invest in affordable housing, providing incentives to private developers, Proposition 13, high-speed rail, and even Shamu.
