November 5, 2011 (San Diego) –“As of today, one million American consumers are hurling a lightning bolt at the big banks, moving their money out,” Diane Sawyer at ABC news reported Friday.
That report aired before today's target date set by the “Move Your Money” movement for consumers to strike back at Wall Street banks blamed for the financial meltdown. Across America, people are heeding the call, shifting their funds into credit unions or locally-owned banks.

November 5, 2011(San Diego) – Councilmember Marti Emerald says San Diego needs to recover its costs for use of the City’s medical/rescue helicopters. So she is asking Congress for federal permission to allow the city to charge patients for costs of treatment and rescue services. Emerald says the move is needed to assure rescue helicopters are available when needed.

November 4, 2011 (San Diego's East County) -- Yesterday, ECM reported that some rural residents were left without power during a red flag alert, after receiving warnings from SDG&E that the utility might shut down power due to high fire-risk conditions.
Today, however, SDG&E has denied that power shut-offs impacting an esteimated 5,200 customers was intentional.
Update November 10, 2011--County Supervisors voted 4-0 yesterday to ask the Farm Bureau to craft a proposed solution within 90 days. Supervisor Bill Horn, an organic farmer, abstained.
