LA MESA POLICE SOLVE STRING OF COMMERCIAL ROBBERIES

 

October 15, 2010 (La Mesa) -- Warner Graves, 47 of San Diego turned himself in and was arrested for a string of commercial robberies after someone close to him saw his photo in a news release identifying him as a suspect.

 

 La Mesa Police sought public help to solve several robberies of business committed October 11 in the area of Fletcher Parkway and Jackson Drive.

ATTEMPTED BANK ROBBERY IN ROLANDO

 

October 15, 2010 (San Diego) – Bank America at 6801 El Cajon Blvd. in the Rolando area was robbed on Wednesday at 12:17 p.m. The suspect, a black man in his mid-20s,5’5” to 5’8” tall, was wearing a brown/black baseball cap with ‘SD’ on it, a khaki shirt, and blue jeans.

SAN DIEGO FBI ANNOUNCES ARREST OF CHICAGO DRUG FUGITIVES IN MEXICO

October 9, 2010 (San Diego) -- Two former Chicago residents with ties to a sophisticated drug operation who had been on the run from law enforcement for nearly a decade with their four young children were located and arrested last week in Tijuana. “A tip from a viewer of the “America’s Most Wanted” program led to the arrest of these two fugitives,” said special agent Darrell Foxworth with the FBI in San Diego.

October 6, 2010 (Lake Murray) -- Two men robbed the Extra Mile Store at 8815 Lake Murray Blvd. at gunpoint yesterday at 4:20 p.m. The suspects were last seen running north bound through the parking lot.

October 2, 2010 (Lake Murray) – Not monkeying around, a man wearing a King Kong mask robbed the Kahoots Pet Store at Bisby Lake Avenue and Lake Murray Boulevard at 3:24 p.m. today. He also held up a customer at knifepoint before fleeting on foot with the cash.

HUSBAND PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO ATTEMPTED MURDER OF WIFE WITH PIPE BOMB

September 30, 2010 (El Cajon) – Lawrence “Larry” Hoagland pled not guilty today to rigging his wife’s vehicle with a pipe bomb in an effort to murder her. According to 10 News, authorities found bomb-making evidence on his computer.

 

A Superior Court judge in El Cajon today denied bail for Hoagland, whose wife was seriously injured after her car exploded near the Rancho San Diego day care center where she works.

HOME INVASION IN JAMACHA: THIEVES TORTURE VICTIM WITH DRILL

September 29, 2010 (SanDiego’s East County) – Four Hispanic men with guns staged a home invasion robbery at 344 Cardiff Street in the Jamacha/Lomita neighborhood in East County this afternoon. According to officer David Stafford with  San Diego Police, the suspects tied up the victim, ransacked his house, and used a motorized drill found at the scene to puncture a  hole in the victim’s back.

BOMB THREAT PUTS STEELE CANYON HIGH SCHOOL IN LOCKDOWN

 

Updated 1:15 p.m. - The package has been determined to contain party supplies, Sheriff's officials have told ECM news partner 10 News.  Sheriff's representative Jan Caldwell says it is too early to determine if this is related to the pipe bomb that injured Connie Hoagland in Rancho San Diego or the pipe bomb left in the family's Rolando neighborhood earlier this month.

September 27, 2010 (Rancho San Diego) - Steele Canyon High School has been placed in lockdown due to a suspicious package delivered this morning, ECM has learned.  The package was delivered via Federal Express.  According to 10 News and an ECM source close to the investigation, the package was addressed to a child of Connie Hoagland, the woman injured in last week's pipe bomb explosion outside a Rancho San Diego daycare center where she worked.

GUNFIRE, STABBING IN EL CAJON ENDS WITH 19 DETAINED

 

September 27, 2010 (El Cajon)—El Cajon Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire around midnight. Upon arrival, they found a man stabbed and beaten outside an apartment on Cuyamaca Street near Vernon Way, where a large fight had occurred. A six-hour standoff ensued. According to ECPD Lt. Tim Henton, officers believed whoever fired the gun was inside, along with possible shooting victims.

September 23, 2010 (10:15 p.m.) – Connie Hoagland, a day care worker and wife of Larry Hoagland,, is the woman injured in tonight’s car explosion in Rancho San Diego, according to an e-mail sent by Pastor Jim Garlow of Skyline Church. “Connie was rushed to an area burn center and is going into the operating room,” he wrote at 7 p.m.

“Based on reports we have heard at this time, both legs are broken and her left foot has injuries as well.” Her injuries are not life threatening, he said, then asked for prayers for the Hoaglands, both parishioners at Skyline.

CAR EXPLOSION HURTS WOMAN IN RANCHO SAN DIEGO

Update 8:45 p.m. - The injured woman was a daycare worker, neigbors have said.  Channel 8 News reports a "large-scale" evacuation that was expected to continue for several hours as the FBI bomb squad searches other vehicles throughout the area.  Officials have not yet stated whether they believe the victim was targeted or not, or what the motive may be.

September 23, 2010 (Encanto) – Two people in a White Ford Explorer reportedly tried to coax an 11-year-old walking to school into their vehicle yesterday morning, San Diego Police report. September 20, 2010 (Alpine) – A man driving near the intersection of Dehesa Road and Dehesa Ranch Road in Alpine around 11 p.m. last night told officials that he pulled over after seeing a flashing red light and a white spotlight behind him, Channel 10 News reports. Sheriff’s Lieutenant. Jim Duffy said the motorist claims that he was robbed at gunpoint after pulling over, believing he had been stopped by law enforcement.

September 20, 2010 (Santee) – Pete Frank Dominguez, 39, was arrested today in the 10200 block of Prospect Avenue in Santee by El Cajon Police in cooperation with investigators from the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office. Dominguez was arrested on an outstanding homicide warrant in the death of Christina Maria Pierce, formerly of El Cajon.

September 19, 2010 (El Cajon) – A woman was robbed in the east parking structure at Parkway Plaza shopping mall on Thursday, September 16 at 11:47 a.m. by a man who also tried to carjack her vehicle. El Cajon police have released a security photo of the suspect, an African-American man, 18-25 with a muscular build and a tattoo on his neck.

September 16, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) 1:00 p.m.– A white van implicated in the assault on a teen jogger in Blossom Valley on September 5th may have been involved in multiple stalkings of women in East County neighborhoods during the past couple of weeks. Other women have reported that they were stalked by a white van in the Cottonwood, Monarch Ridge and Rancho San Diego areas, East County Magazine has learned.

SHOOTING IN EL CAJON

 

September 15, 2010 (El Cajon) -- Officers from El Cajon Police Department responded to a 911 call from a man asking for help last night at 10 p.m. The man, 18, had suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his upper thigh. The victim told officers that and his cousin had been sitting in front of 273 Wisconsin when they were confronted by a young, bald Hispanic man. The victim told police the assailant pursued him and shot him in the leg as he fled.

MAN WITH CROSSBOW PROMPTS STAND-OFF IN POWAY, NEARBY SCHOOL ON LOCKDOWN

 

Update 6 p.m.:  This dispute ended peacefully with no injuries following  a four-hour standoff.  The man, Stephen Gainder, 45, surrendered to deputies and was taken to Pomerado Hospital for evaluation.  Pomerado News reports that a neighbor called the Sheriff following a loud dispute between Gainder and his elderly mother. After deputies attempted to subdue him with a taser and beanbags, he armed himself with a crossbow.  
September 14, 2010 (Poway) 12:56 p.m. -- Negotiators from the San Diego Sheriff’s office are attempting to talk a man armed with a crossbow into surrendering. According to ECM news partner 10 News, deputies performing a welfare check in the 14000 block of Tobiasson Road were told by the man that he is armed with a crossbow and refusing to come out.
