DRIVER MAY FACE CHARGES IN DEATH OF MOTORCYCLIST, 23, IN EL CAJON

The El Cajon Police Department reminds drivers to be on the lookout for motorcyclists, bicyclists, and pedestrians, and to share the road.

May 30, 2021 (El Cajon) –  A 23-year-old man has died after being struck by a white Chevrolet truck at 8:00 Friday morning in El Cajon. El Cajon Police officers and paramedics from Heartland Fire Department treated the victim at the crash site in the 200 block of North Johnson Avenue but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

MOTORCYCLE PASSENGER DIES AFTER ROLLOVER IN EL CAJON

July 20, 2020 (El Cajon) – A passenger on a Harley Davidson motorcycle has died following a rollover crash July 18 on Piping Rock Lane around 9:30 p.m. While passing a vehicle parked on the shoulder, the driver of the motorcycle lost control, causing it to roll over and crash into the parked vehicle.

Both the driver and passenger were ejected onto the roadway. They were not wearing helmets and both suffered major injuries. Both were transported to hospitals, but despite lifesaving efforts, the passenger was pronounced dead at Sharp Memorial Hospital.

MOTORCYCLIST DEAD AFTER THREE-VEHICLE COLLISION IN EL CAJON

UPDATE AS OF NOVEMBER 25 AT 1:04 PM:  According to Lt. Randy Soulard with El Cajon Police,  the driver of the SUV was traveling east on Washington and did not see the oncoming motorcycle traveling west.  The SUV turned into the path of the motorcycle and the motorcyclist, unable to stop or avoid a collision, struck the SUV.

“Based witness statements and evidence recovered at the scene, the speed and driving behavior of the motorcycle rider may have been a factor in this collision,” Lt.  Soulard indicated.  He added that neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors.

The occupants of the SUV were uninjured as a result of this collision.

November 23, 2016 (El Cajon) - A motorcyclist is dead after a three-vehicle traffic collision in El Cajon, police said.

The crash happened around 4:40 p.m. today at the intersection of East Washington Avenue and Lincoln Avenue, officials said.
